Statues of Men - The Planet
Live music that's genuinely good for the planet.
We’ve partnered with SeaTrees, planting mangroves in Kenya to help offset the carbon footprint of every gig, because small actions make a big difference… because it’s the right thing to do.
Why plant Mangroves?
Mangrove forests are 5x more effective at storing carbon than tropical forests. In fact, they’re one of the most efficient ways to sequester carbon. A single mangrove removes 0.3 tonnes of carbon in it’s lifetime.
By partnering with SeaTrees, we’re working to help restore coastal eco systems, with a specific focus on Mida Creek, within the Malindi Watamu National Marine Park and Reserve (Kenya) - a UNESCO designated biosphere and one of the oldest marine protected areas.
Wider benefits of mangrove planting?
Creates critical habitat for threatened species.
Helps protect the surrounding coral reefs from sediment runoff.
Supports biodiversity and improved fish population.
Creates sustainable employment for local communities, reducing poverty and fostering education.
Helps protect against storm surges and sea level rise.
Want to plant Mangroves Too?
The Mida Creek project is a long term initiative for the benefit of the planet, designed to work in harmony with nature and local communities. We’re passionate about the scheme and know it resonates with those around us.
Our partnership with Sea Trees means you can plant mangroves with us from as little as £1 by clicking here.
Alternatively, you can support the project by seeing us play live. New gigs are announced first on our Instagram feed, with a full round up of all confirmed dates and venues available by clicking here.
Music Declares Emergency
Building on our partnership with SeaTrees, we’re proud to stand with artists, music industry professionals and organisations. Music Declares Emergency mobilises the music industry and together, we believe:
The continued rise in greenhouse gas emissions and the ongoing devastation of the natural world constitute a clear and present threat to life on earth.
That an immediate governmental response is necessary to protect all life from climate and ecological catastrophe.
Music, musicians and music businesses, through their unique cultural and economic power, can lead the way in demanding the systemic changes required to secure all life on earth.
